Prostitutes, everywhere

The whores in Scripture were more Christlike than many "good girls" these days. They were more modestly dressed, more reserved, and more submissive. Their pleasures were cheap and their fees were cheaper. For one loaf of bread you could have one. And for the price of a loaf of bread now, you can watch them online. You can see their vanity on your Facebook pages.

If you read through Scripture about prostitutes and temptresses, they were seductive, and they were charming. Their bodies were curvy and beautiful, their lips ripe with passion, their eyes mysterious and selfish. They turned married men on without even trying. They caused them to stumble in their thoughts and then they'd spend the rest of the week convincing themselves that it meant nothing and they didn't really stumble, while intermittently agonizing over their unworthiness, knowing that they had a weakness.

Prostitutes were fun for men (and women) to fall into sin with because they were not "in-your-face" about their sex appeal like so many supposed Christian girls are these days. Men like some things left to the imagination. If you're not sure about this, read about the whores in the Old Testament. Read through Proverbs. Read the warnings and encounters with them in the New Testament.

Now check this out. Our culture promotes sex. It sells. The marketing tools of seduction, nearly naked images, media that promotes fornication, vile and unnatural passions, and lusts of not just men and women, but also of transexuals, homosexuals, child pornography, incest, polygamy, adultery, and beastiality, and smooth talk that prostitutes used in Scripture are now being used by and encouraged by most people at least to some extent in every day life. Fathers are convinced that because it's the cultural norm for a girl to show more, it's okay. Or, it's not okay, but they would rather their precious daughters not get made fun of in school for being upright, so they allow their hard-earned money to increase the clothing in their daughter's closet. After all, what father wants to be mocked by his baby girl? "Dad, stop being such a prude! You don't understand what it's like! Mom says I look pretty! Why can't you see that?!" He's got a choice: Either allow his daughter to live according to the world's standards and give into pressure from those who are under his protection so that he is promoted as a man in the house, or he gets to be hated by those of his own household for the sake of God's commands. All in the name of beauty. And all of this, even though he truly sees his daughter as wearing whorish clothing. Businesses love this. Churches stay silent because of the loud and obnoxious voice that chants, "Don't judge! Love them anyway!" What they really want is sin without repercussions and no correction, no rebuke, no confrontation. Women are happier that way, so what could possibly be wrong with it?

No longer are prostitutes' techniques rare or found repulsive by the mass majority of individuals. In the name of 'freedom' and 'love' we have expressed a desire to degrade ourselves and others and deified our sin, making self-expression a virtue. We as a nation have become the harlot and we don't even care. The definition of prostitution hasn't changed, just like the definition of marriage hasn't changed. There are just a LOT more prostitutes now, as large as states, as massive as countries.

A little leaven leavens the whole lump.
